This Valentine’s Day Moulin Vieux invites you to join us for the first time in our new venue for our Black Hearts Masquerade Ball! So put on your evening clothes and get out your snazziest mask because this Mardi Gras Ball is gonna Sex You Up!

Starting at 1am Sunday Night/Monday Morning after the evening parades and going on till well after dawn we’ve got Two Floors of music, dancers, drinking, sexy play, and hot movies! All the fabulous things you’ve come to expect from Moulin Vieux only more and better, more furniture, more play, more sexy fun!

Goodies for all! Prizes for sexiest evening wear! Some masks will be provided but we do recommend you bring your own.

Back to School Extravaganza

This totally slipped under the radar here. I didn’t know anything about it until the music was coming from the Old U.S. Mint.

It’s the Dinerral Shavers Educational Fund 1st Annual Back To School Extravaganza. It looks like a good one. School supplies for the kids, Hot Dogs, activities for the kids, and Brass bands. Good times.

The event will be held at the Louisiana State Museum (The Old U.S. Mint) at 400 Esplanade Ave., from noon to 5 p.m. It will feature live performances by: The School Boys, Baby Boyz Brass Band, The Hot 8 Brass Band and McMain High School Marching Band.

Goth-industrial returns to Lower Decatur Street

The more things change, the more they stay the same. This should make a lot of people happy.

It is my pleasure to announce that as of August 26th, Corrosion will be returning every week to 1135 Decatur. Goth-industrial is coming back to the French Quarter and back to Decatur st. You will find us every Wednesday, and after parties whenever possible, at the Rubyfruit Jungle. The sound and light show is of unprecedented quality, the bar’s so stocked they’ve got daiquiris.

Taking a look back at last year's Satchmo Summerfest

We thought it would be a good time to look back at the Times-Picayune’s coverage of last year’s Satchmo Summerfest.

For four days, lovers of Louis Armstrong enjoyed music, food and even a bit of education as the eight annual festival took over lower Decatur Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans.

Bands playing mostly traditional Jazz filled four stages and Jazz historians remembering the good old days paid tribute to the man many say made Jazz a household name.

Yes indeed, this city knows how to pass a good time.Â The ninth year should be no exception.Â The festival kicks off with a Keynote Speaker and the opening of the â€˜Jam Session – Jazz Ambassadors Embrace the World’ photo exhibit at the Old U.S. Mint on Thursday July 30th.Â The exhibit will be in the Mint all weekend (with air conditioning) for your enjoyment.Â The festivities culminate with a weekend of world class music on three stages on the lawn of the Mint.

Molly's at the Market's Halloween Parade

It’s that time of year again..

The festivities for this year start at 10am, with the actual parade leaving Molly’s at 5:30pm. The “standard fare” of entertainment will accompany the parade, consisting of (but not limited to) a firetruck, bands, jugglers, stiltwalkers, monkeys (I wish), etc. This is the Traditional Jim Monaghan Parade.

Children's Music Festival at the Old U.S. Mint

There will be a music festival for children this Saturday September 15th from 2-6pm at the Old U.S. Mint (Barracks Street and Decatur Street). This is a new thing for the neighborhood and details are slim, but I’m guessing there will be a local lineup and lots of fun for all ages.

25th annual Irish Parade on Lower Decatur

The Times-Piccayune published this to say about the St. Patrick’s Day parade.

St. Patrick’s Day parades begin rolling Friday when Monaghan’s 25th annual Irish Parade paints the French Quarter green at 5:30 p.m., beginning and ending at Molly’s at the Market, 1107 Decatur Street. Beads and Irish-themed trinkets will be tossed to the crowds by riders in horse-driven carriages, led by the Storyville Stompers marching band and the Kazoozie Floozies.

Be sure to wear green and come get your Blarney on!
